Inaugural Meeting of the Southern Federation of Foot and Ankle Societies

It was a pleasure to attend the recent Inaugural Meeting of the Southern Federation of Foot and Ankle Societies in beautiful Queenstown New Zealand.

We had a fantastic group of International speakers, including M Scott Ellis from Hospital for Special Surgeries in New York and Mark Easley from Duke and Martinus Richter from Germany. It is always excellent to hear from our colleagues abroad as they shared their expertise in Ankle Replacement and complex foot and ankle surgery.

My former fellow Kaihan Yao presented two papers on my behalf. "Custom Total Talar Ankle Replacements" and "Staged Total Ankle Replacements for Complex End Stage Ankle Arthritis". There two sessions dedicated to ankle replacement reflecting the increased prevalence of this surgical solution for end stage ankle arthritis. These techniques, as you would expect, sparked a constructive conversation which is how we all learn from each other, this is important so we can all grow with technologies and ensure the best patient outcomes.

This meeting was a great event and I am certain that the future meetings will be worth attending!
